We find ourselves in a small tea house located in Hong Kong, China. A few customers are sitting and enjoying their drinks when we hear the front door open and a bell rings, announcing the arrival of one of the most famous tea enthusiasts there is. He is wearing a finely tailored suit and takes a deep breath as he enters, inhaling the fragrant aroma of the boiling tea leaves. Lexington "The Poet" Royale takes a seat at one of the corner tables as a waitress approaches to serve him some of the complimentary house tea. Special flavors are charged for. The Word Warrior samples this first cup and nods appreciatively as he picks up a menu off the table and starts scanning its contents. After only a couple of seconds, he notices the camera and breaks into a broad, welcoming smile.
Royale - "Welcome friends! Big surprise, eh? Your Civil Champion in a tea house. A simple explanation is necessary, I believe. This week's edition of Wednesday Night Assault shall emanate from Hong Kong Stadium. Therefore, I could not help but sample as much authentic Chinese tea as I could possibly get my hands on. Even this simple house tea is utterly exquisite. Perhaps we should speak of a few current events in the world of the Artful Avenger while I decide which flavored tea I shall try first. How does that sound?"
The Poet takes a sip of his house tea and scans for a bit over the menu before continuing.
Royale - "Let's start with last week, shall we? We all know that I am now a part of the greatest tag team in the entire wrestling world, the Gold Foundation. And you also know that we are currently the reigning Global Wrestling Coalition Tag Team Champions. However, last week I was teamed up with someone other than the man simply known as Outcast. I was paired with JW McCammon against another two of those vile villains from EPW in the form of Kid Alpha and Triple X. And as you all saw, the Coalition was once again victorious against our devious enemies. What's that? Some of you may not have caught the ending of that specific match? Perhaps the editing crew can fit that in now. In the meantime, I'll order another cup of tea. I believe I'll go with their Tantric Tea to start."
We see Lexington call the waitress over and then we switch to footage of last week's Assault. Triple X stands JW up in the corner and starts hitting a combination of jabs and crosses to the jaw. He brings McCammon out of the corner and looks to be hitting a big move. Yes, he’s going into Beast Mode! TX hits one…two…three…and now the big and final fourth knee to the head-no! JW has somehow caught the knee and gets Kist in the hold for a capture release suplex. He pops his hips and throws him right back into the face of Kid Alpha! The Kid is knocked to the floor and TX is in pain as McCammon now has a chance to finally make a tag to the Tag Team Champion. He crawls ever so slowly to the corner…there’s the tag!
Phil Brooks: “Triple X is in for it now! Lexington is in the match!”
Josh Harter: “No! Not this again! The dreaded hot tag!”
The Poet rushes over and hits a big clothesline on TX, who pops up only to receive a second, and now a third clothesline. Kid Alpha has reentered the ring, only to receive a series of punches and then an Irish whip into a huge back body drop. McCammon has now gotten back into the action as he has TX in the corner and looks ready to hit some mounted punches. Lexington has Kid Alpha in the same situation on the opposite side and they look over their shoulders at one another. They both then turn and hit the ten punches at the same time with the crowd counting them on. The faces climb down and now Irish whip their opponents into each other. Finally the referee forces JW out of the ring, along with Kid Alpha. The legal men are now the Poet and TX.
Phil Brooks: “Great teamwork here from the impromptu team of Lexington Royale and JW McCammon. Let’s see if they can close it out.”
Kid Alpha is out of it on the apron and Lexington is now setting up TX for the Pen Is Mightier. He brings back his fist for the kill shot…but is blocked! Kist now hits Triple X Rated! This could be it. There’s the pin…1…2…3-no! JW gets in at the last moment to break up the pin. However, Kid Alpha has shaken the cobwebs loose and charged across the ring to clothesline himself and McCammon from the ring.
Phil Brooks: “The referee has to get control of things here!”
Josh Harter: “What are you talking about? Let them fight!”
TX grabs Lexington’s Tag Team Championship from the corner of the ring and looks to knock out the Poet with the ref’s back turned. Royale slowly gets to his feet as Tristan takes a swing with the belt. However, the Poet ducks and hits Verbal Violence! He gets the referee’s attention just as JW launches Kid Alpha over the barrier on the outside. Here’s the cover…1…2…3! The match is over!
Michelle Madison: “Here are your winners…Lexington ‘The Poet’ Royale and JW McCammon!”
Phil Brooks: “They pulled it off! EPW tried to cheat their way to victory but the GWC reigns supreme once again!”
Josh Harter: “…for now.”
The Mercenary joins Lexington inside the ring as the fans cheer on the GWC faithful. They raise their hands in victory as the audience continues to applaud the winners. We now switch back to the tea house where the waitress is bringing over Lexington's fresh cup of Tantric Tea. He thanks her and takes a sip before resuming our conversation.
Royale - "Quite good. I must make sure to see about taking some of this back to jolly old England with me. So, did we enjoy that match? Despite our differences in character, the Mercenary and myself were able to join together for the common good of the GWC in order to vanquish those dastardly EPW members, Kid Alpha and Triple X. This now brings us to a huge tag team showdown for this Wednesday. The Gold Foundation, in only our second match together, shall be challenged like few new tag teams are. We must face the formidable pairing of both Reckless Jack and David Alastair. They of course comprise the team known as Uncultured Youth. Outcast and myself have been training vigorously in preparation for this non-title bout. Leading into Tribulation, it shall be a quite suitable test of our skills together as a tandem. Jack and David are nothing to sneeze at. A daunting task is ahead of the Gold Foundation. However, I am quite certain that we shall emerge victorious, gaining momentum in the weeks to come."
The Poet finishes his cup of tea and waves the waitress over once more, proceeding to order another of this establishment's variety of flavors.
Royale - "Some ginseng green tea sounds just about right. Where was I? Oh yes. That's right. Building momentum. Why must the Gold Foundation do this? Because in two week's time, we shall have our first title defense when we put our GWC Tag Team Championship on the line against the number one contenders in the form of Murder Inc. They earned the right with a win last week on Assault against Phantom and the Emperor of the Affliction. You all know them as the tag team Dead End. Now the team of Anthony Clark and Xavier Hudson will have the opportunity to make history at our next pay-per-view, Tribulation. Unfortunately for them, Outcast and myself do not plan on simply laying down. If Murder Inc. wants these titles, they're going to have to bring their 'A' game, as you Americans would say. The Gold Foundation will remain on top of this division for a long time to come."
Lexington finishes off his ginseng green tea and calls the waitress over for the bill, which he pays in full plus a generous tip. She blushes and thanks him before heading off to another table. The Artful Avenger exits the tea house as we follow him outside.
Royale - "So how was that? A satisfactory rundown of current events for your Civil Champion? I was victorious last week along with JW McCammon against two EPW wankers. This week, the Gold Foundation has a non-title match against the difficult to defeat pair known as Uncultured Youth. And at Tribulation, we shall defend our Tag Team Championship for the first time ever against Murder Inc. Exciting times in the life of your favorite Englishman. Will I emerge victorious yet again? I suppose you'll just have to tune in to Wednesday Night Assault to find out, won't you? Yes. Quite."
The Word Warrior winks and waves a cheery goodbye as he turns and walks off into the distance toward his hotel. The Gold Foundation squares off with Uncultured Youth in what should be an epic tag team battle. Stay tuned.
