(A darkened room. The shadows play tricks on your mind. Are they demons? Or simply lost souls trying to return to the land of the living? We see a darkened figure, wearing a hooded cloak. Suddenly, he reaches up and pulls the chain on a solitary light bulb in the center of the ceiling. It flickers to life and we are greeted with the image of the Ryder. He smiles at us and begins to speak...)
RYDER: "You think you know me, don't you T-Money? Yes, I'm so confused about who I am. I'm so lost. Is that it? Sorry, pal. I couldn't be more certain of who I am. And my comments about your God were not blasphemous in the least. I fear nothing...not because I care for nothing. It's because I know that no one person or thing can stop me when I'm at my best. I care for many things. However, you are not worthy of knowing what those things are. I'll let you in on one, though. That precious title belt around your waist. Yes, I do care about that."
The Unholy Warrior lowers his hood, revealing a new, shorter hair style. The look on his face is a bit odd as well. Instead of the normally demonic, maniacal look we are accustomed to seeing, he seems to be almost sane in this light. Serious...contemplative...even normal? He continues to speak...)
RYDER: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one."
(Ryder smiles briefly in remembrance and now discards his cloak, revealing the black chain mail sleeveless shirt, black jeans, and black boots underneath. He throws it to the side and then resumes his speech...)
RYDER: "You've all heard me utter those words many times before. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done. Thus says Ryder. That very same kingdom is within my grasp. This Wednesday night, T-Money will be all that stands in my way. Unfortunately for him, he does not know when to keep his mouth shut. The more you anger me, the worse it shall be. I do not pretend to be a dark and serious intellectual. That is what I am. You are obviously a novice in the world of mind games. You become so defensive after a mere promo from the Unholy Warrior. Do not be too frightened. This horror you feel will all end quite soon. And it shall be followed by a long, restful peace. You will no longer be forced to play this thuggish character. You will be allowed to fade off into the distance, becoming an obscure memory. A mere piece of trivia, if you will. Who did Ryder defeat to earn his first World Championship? The 'great' and 'fearsome' T-Money, that's who. So prepare yourself for a battle. The end is near."
(Ryder brings his cloak to the center of the room and pulls a pack of matches out of his pocket. He lights one and drops it on the garment, igniting it into flames. He looks back into the camera and begins to speak again...)
RYDER: "I'm tired of the bullsh*t. Tired of the games. You've helped me to realize one thing, T-Money. The Unholy Warrior is more than a simple master of the mind games. He's a competitor. A fighter. One of the best damn wrestlers to ever grace this company. You can hate Danny Vice all you want. The man's not dumb. He needed someone who could challenge you for that title belt around your waist. Someone that could challenge and defeat you. He wanted somebody who could end your reign and rid himself of the nuisance of having a piece of garbage like you hold his company's most prestigious title. He scanned the roster for someone with the pure skills to beat you in a one on one match. And his eyes settled on Ryder. Not the demonic figure of the Unholy Warrior. But the pound for pound best wrestler in this Coalition...Ryder."
(Ryder looks down at his burning cloak and then removes his chain mail shirt. He throws that down into the fire as well before continuing...)
RYDER: "No more demons. No more devils. There's just Ryder. Oh, I'll still take you to Hell. But on my own terms. And trust me, I've still got a Last Ryde for anyone who crosses me. And you, T-Money...have crossed me. You dare to mock the Affliction and insult my followers? I won't stand for THAT kind of blasphemy. Where is T.H.U.G. now? You and that fool DJ? Bishop left and Xavier Cross did too. They both realized they were better without you leading them. Cross especially. You were holding them back. What kind of leader does that make you? Dead End has thrived under my leadership. They have received many title and number one contender opportunities. What did Bishop ever accomplish? How many times has Xavier had to sit back while you drank in the glory of the World Championship? In fact, I'd better leave a little of you left for the Rising Star. I think he'll be waiting for you."
(Ryder smiles at this last comment. He then walks over to the door and opens it, beckoning for the camera to follow. We are now walking down a hallway backstage in Hong Kong for this week's edition of Wednesday Night Assault. Ryder continues to speak as we follow...)
RYDER: "You were right about one thing though, T-Money. I couldn't beat Thunder in my first World Championship shot. A lucky night for Mr. Knight. Believe me, he was counting his blessings after that encounter. However, you fail to realize something. When I truly understood that my second opportunity would be against you, I was happy! Not confused. Not frightened. Honestly happy. I may loathe you and everything you claim to represent. But I have the common sense to realize that you are no push over. However, you will be beat. Plain and simple. You're going to lose. Bring all you've got. Have DJ get involved even. It won't matter. In the end, there will be a new GWC World Champion. And no, it won't be Stargazer. He can attempt to cash in his little briefcase that he won from that bastard McCammon, but it won't matter. I'll beat him just like I plan on beating you. I can guarantee one thing. The World Champion will be going into Tribulation representing the Global Wrestling Coalition. However, that man will be none other than Ryder."
(Ryder has reached a locker room marked with the name "Chris Andretti". He rips the sign off the door and enters, finding it deserted. He turns to the camera...)
RYDER: "I guess somebody didn't get the memo that Andretti caught the Cancer last week. Oh well. This room suites my new mood a bit better than the last place we saw. Now, where was I? Oh yeah. Insulting T-Money and his bitch DJ. You two are pathetic. Can you really be that dumb? Have you been too busy playing grab ass to notice a few things around here the past few months? You're looking at the longest reigning United States Champion in GWC history. And I only lost that title thanks to some bitch ass triple threat where I wasn't even pinned. You've been in the ring with me before, T-Money. You know how good I am. Only this time, you won't have anyone else there to take my attention away from you. It's one on one. Some dime bag thug going against the best this business has to offer. To quote a famous champion, I am that damn good. And you f*cking know it. So stop playing this holier than thou sh*t and realize something. I'm better than you...and I'll prove it on Assault when I take your World Championship."
(Ryder notices that a television in the corner has been playing a commercial for this week's Assault and it is now previewing the World Championship match. He watches for a moment until it ends and then turns off the set. He faces us again and resumes...)
RYDER: "Everyone in the world is waiting for this match. Hong Kong is lucky to have it. All these people in this arena will be fortunate enough to witness history. The beginning of a new reign of terror around here. Like I said before, no more games. No more gimmicks. No more Unholy Warrior. No more Thy kingdom this and Thy kingdom that. From now on, it's just Ryder. MY kingdom come, MY will be done. And who f*cking said it? I did. So get ready, T-Money. You think people know you now? Well, I'm going to make your ass famous."
(Ryder is about to close the door on us but remembers something. He orders a staff member who happens to be walking by...)
RYDER: "Hey! Get your ass over here. I want a new sign for this door. Big f*cking star with my name written on it in the biggest damn font size you've got. Make it happen!"
(The worker hurriedly runs off and Ryder again begins to close the door in our faces before stopping to say one last thing...)
RYDER: "Oh yeah. T-Money? Remember this. You...in that ring. Me...making your ass famous. Get it? Got it? Good. Now, get the f*ck out of here."
(Ryder finally slams the door in our faces as the scene gratefully fades to black.)
RYDER: "You think you know me, don't you T-Money? Yes, I'm so confused about who I am. I'm so lost. Is that it? Sorry, pal. I couldn't be more certain of who I am.
