Runnin’ Low
(“THE MERCENARY” comes flashing across the screen and then the camera pans a small arena. “Bite The Bullet” by Machine Head hits to a huge pop as the arena goes black and the blue strobe lights hit. The crowd roars as “The Mercenary” JW McCammon comes walking out from behind the curtain. He is wearing his ring attire with his leather jacket and sunglasses on. He looks around at the crowd and walks out further. He stops on the entrance way and raises his fists in the air and then heads to the ring. JW McCammon gets to the ring, all the while slapping hands along the way. He climbs in the ring and goes to the turnbuckle and poses for the fans. He gets back down, grabs the mic from the ring announcer, and looks at the crowd before lifting the microphone to his lips...)
JW McCammon: I don’t understand it. I just don’t. People say a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, meaning that if you have something already, it is better than the odds of getting another two. I guess people are stupid. ‘Cause I see the opposite everywhere I go. They waste money on the lotto, thinking that there will be that day when they win the big one. Using more cash to win the something the easy way than rather use hard work and determination to get. I have prided myself on doing things the legitimate way ever since I started my career. Look what I have gotten for it!
(The Mercenary looks at his bare waist and makes a belt motion to the crowd as they know he is ready for the title shot at Tribulation...)
JW McCammon: I have gotten just heart ache and sorrow. I have lost the United States Championship for the second time in my career here in the GWC. Now, I know David Alastair was the better man that night and I did what I could, but that wasn’t enough for me to keep the gold wrapped around my waist.
(The Mercenary looks down as the crowd chants his name. He looks up and wipes his face with his hand as he stares into the crowd with a misty look in his eyes...)
JW McCammon: I just wasn’t enough for me. I have failed myself. I don’t think I have lived up to my standards in the past few months. So after this Wednesday I am taking a break until the PPV, or maybe even after the PPV. I have to reevaluate the situation.
(The crowd is a little taken back by their hero giving a going away speech. But McCammon still stands there looking at the crowd with a misty look in his eyes...)
JW McCammon: The battles I have fought for the past year and a half have been brutal on my body and my mental state. I just plainly need the rest. But I can assure you that even with me going away for a couple of weeks, I will fucking be back. I will bring back The Mercenary!
Xavier, Skyler, be ready ‘cause I am going to make you bite the bullet and take your beatings like men!
The Mercenary will always get the last shot!
(The Mercenary throws the microphone down and walks to the turnbuckle and raises his arms to the crowd’s cheers. He then cracks his neck and rips his thumb across his throat to a thunderous ovation before exiting the ring and heading backstage as the screen fades to black.)
