“Attack” by 30 Seconds to Mars hits live at the first ever Global Wrestling Coalition show goes on the air from San Diego, California. Pyrotechnics blast through the arena as the crowd roars the start of a new era in professional wrestling.
Phil Brooks: Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, children of all ages! Welcome, to the newest era in sports entertainment, the Global Wrestling Coalition. I’m Phil Brooks with my partner Josh Harter, what a night we have in store as Commissioner Danny Vice has decided to kick things off with a bang and a FOUR MAIN EVENT opening night.
Josh Harter: That is correct! Four matches in the opening round of the World Championship tournament tonight, the only way to really book this show was to flip a coin and see who goes first.
Phil Brooks: Absolutely. And when it comes to the GWC, nothing could be more fitting than 30 Seconds to Mars singing about an attack, because this will be a night full of them.
Josh Harter: Plenty of memories to be made here, and this is a wonderful spot to start them all, in the Vagrant’s hometown of San Diego.
Phil Brooks: We will open tonight up on our “Southwest by Storm Tour” with “The King” Eric Kennedy against Jucain.
Josh Harter: Following that match will be my personal favorite, as the greatest man money can buy Thunder, will faceoff with BA Monk.
Phil Brooks: The third match is the high-flying and death-defying David Alastair up against the monster known only as Phantom.
Josh Harter: And the main event, the squeaky clean geek Skyler Striker will get in the squared circle with “The Future” Adrian Stone.
Phil Brooks: I don’t know about referring to Striker as a geek, but I will tell you that this main event will certainly get the ball rolling in the GWC. Let’s go ringside to Michelle Madison for the opening bell.
Eric Kennedy v. Jucain
Michelle Madison: Ladies and Gentlemen, the following match is a World Title Qualifying match and it is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first.
"Move" by Thousand Foot Krutch begins to play. As the music picks up, Jucain runs out to the stage, moving to the beat as he hops his way down the ramp. By the time the next chorus hits, he slides to the middle of the ring and hops up onto his feet, heading for the far-right turnbuckle from the ramp. He leaps onto the top turnbuckle and leans forward towards the audience, moving his upper body up and down and bending his knees to the beat. As the music hits the next verse, he jumps off, spinning 540 degrees, landing to where he is facing the middle of the ring, and waits for his opponent, shaking his hands, rolling his head around his neck.
Michelle Madison: Jucain! And his opponent!
King's Collide" by Godsmack begins to play slowly over the PA System. King Kennedy walks out onto the entrance ramp wearing a red and white robe. He holds a golden scepter in his right hand and raises it in the air as golden pyros shoot out of the ramp. Kennedy begins making his way down the aisle, stopping occasionally to taunt some of the fans who are booing him. Kennedy walks slowly up the ring steps and walks to the middle apron where he steps into the ring. He walks to the middle of the ring and again raises the scepter into the air as golden pyros begin to spray out of the apron of the ring. Kennedy slowly removes his robe and hands it to the referee who quickly takes it outside. Kennedy walks over to the turnbuckle and lays his scepter underneath it as the music begins to die down.
Michelle Madison: The King, Eric Kennedyyyy!
Michelle Madison leaves the ring and the bell rings. Jucain and Kennedy immiediatly charge at each other and lock up. Kennedy easily overpowers Jucain and throws him almost across the ring. Kennedy raises his arms to his side and than flexes, taunting Jucain. Jucain quickly gets up and runs at Kennedy. Kennedy goes for a clothesline but Jucain ducks under it and comes off of the ropes with a flying forearm. Kennedy stumbles back but doesnt fall. Jucain again bounces off the ropes and this time goes for a shoulder block, which only sends Jucain flying to the ground.
Josh Harter: Hahaha! How dumb is this guy? Going for a shoulder block on someone much taller and heavier than he is.
Phil Brooks: Lets like running into a brick wall, not a smart move.
Kennedy grabs Jucain by the throat and picks him up. He nearly takes Jucains head off with a short-arm clothesline. Kennedy stands back up and delivers an elbow drop in Jucains chest, and than a legdrop to his head. Kennedy walks over to the turnbuckle and climbs up to the top. As he leaps for a flying kneedrop, Jucain pops up and nails him with a jumping roundhouse kick, leveling Kennedy. Jucain quickly moves to the side of Kennedy and connects a standing moonsault to him.
1..Kickout
Jucain grabs Kennedy's head and locks him into a Dragonsleeper. Kennedy manages after several minutes to rise up to his feet and turn Jucain around, reversing the dragon sleeper. Kennedy knees Jucain in the spine several times and than flips him up onto his shoulder and slams Jucain hard to the mat with a bodyslam. Kennedy bends down over Jucains face and shouts some insults at him. Jucain suddenly gives a thumb to Kennedys eye. Kennedy turns around holding his eye as Jucain jumps to his feet. Jucain gives a few stiff kicks to the back of Kennedys knee and thigh until Kennedy finally falls on his back. Jucain bounces off the ropes and connects a rolling thunder onto Kennedys chest. Jucain doesnt bother going for the pin, he instead grabs Kennedy by the hair and head and pulls him up to his knees. Jucain bounces off the ropes again and delivers a front dropkick to Kennedys face. Kennedy flips from his knees onto his back, and Jucain than goes for the pin.
1..2..Kickout
Phil Brooks: Man, I thought he had him with that! Jucain was so close to getting the win right there!
Josh Harter: Calm down, Jucain wasnt anywhere near close. Im sure Kennedy just wanted to make him feel good by letting him get the two count, Kennedy could of kicked out before one if he wanted to!
Jucain begins getting somewhat frustrated at this point. He moves out onto the ring apron and jumps to the top turnbuckle. He waits for Kennedy to get to his feet than leaps off, looking for a flying axe-handle smash. Kennedy counters it with a sickening clothesline. The smack of the clothesline could easily be heard throughout the entire arena. Kennedy gets to his feet than looks down at Jucain than at the turnbuckle. Kennedy than raises one hand in the air and points up at the rafters. He grabs Jucain and places him onto the top turnbuckle. Kennedy than climbs onto the second turnbuckle and sets Jucain ontop of his shoulders.
Josh Harter: YES! Were about to see a Crash Landing here!
Phil Brooks: He'll break his d**n ribs! The ref needs to stop this before this gets nastier than it already is.
Kennedy lets out a small laugh and right before he leaps Jucain spins around and hits Kennedy with a Tornado DDT. Kennedy rolls to the outside quickly and falls to his knees. He holds his head and as he than looks at his hand he realizes they are covered in blood. As Kennedy rises to his feet and turns around, Jucain flies over the top rope with an Asai Moonsault. Kennedy catches Jucain however, and sends Jucain shoulder first into the ringpost. Jucain squirms around on the ground, screaming in agony while he holds his shoulder. Kennedy grabs Jucains legs and sets him up for what appears to be a boston crab. However, Kennedy falls back and slingshots Jucain into the ringpost, this time Jucain hitting it chest and face first. Jucain lays now flat on his back, also busted wide open. Kennedy gets up and drops a knee into the face of Jucain, than begins to grind it on the open wound. Kennedy picks up Jucain and tosses him through the ropes into the ring. Kennedy rolls into the ring and drops a knee into the temple of Jucain. Kennedy goes for the cover.
1...2...3!!!
Phil Brooks: Wait no! Jucain got a foot on the rope!
Josh Harter: Dammit! This should of been over right there!
Kennedy who now is in the middle of the ring already celebrating a win, has no idea that the match isnt over. The ref hurries over to Kennedy and tells him that Jucain got a foot on the rope before the three count. Kennedy explodes and begins screaming at the ref. Jucain crawls back to his feet and springs at Kennedy, hitting a dropkick into Kennedys back. Kennedy falls forward and the ref gets sandwiched between the turnbuckle and Kennedy. Jucain walks over to Kennedy and grabs him by the back of his head pulling him up to his knees. Kennedy spins around just than and cracks Jucain over the head with the scepter which he left in the corner of the ring. Jucain flops back onto the mat, out cold. Kennedy tosses the scepter out of the ring and covers Jucain.
Josh Harter: Kennedy just hit a home run! and Jucain is OUT!
Phil Brooks: But the ref is down, theres no one to count, genius.
Kennedy mutter something and gets up. He grabs the ref and pulls him to his feet, holding him up by one arm. He pulls him over to where Jucain is laying and tells him that he better count. Kennedy covers Jucain again.
1..2..... KICKOUT!!!
Kennedy immediately begins to argue with the official. Jucain rises slowly behind him and spins Kennedy around and hits him with a kick to the midsection, followed by the Jucannon.
Josh Harter: No!
Phil Brooks: Yes, a hurricanrana into a DDT combination he calls the Jucannon! What a move! Jucain ascends to the top rope to finish this thing off.
Jucain climbs to the top rope and goes for Jacin. He connects with the swanton bomb but is caught by Kennedy as he rolls over after the contact into a rollup pin. 1…2….3!
Phil Brooks: What a move! Kennedy wins it by reversing Jucain’s Jacin finisher!
Josh Harter: Of course he did, he’s The King.
Phil Brooks: Well he did cheat with that scepter earlier in the match.
Josh Harter: Don’t disrespect royalty like that Brooks. Green is an ugly color on you.
The referee lifts Kennedy’s hand in the air as his music blares over the speakers, while the GWC crowd boos loudly. He acts as a proud king as he leaves the ring with his scepter.
Thunder v. BA Monk
Michelle Madison: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is a World Title Tournament match! Entering the ring first, from Greenville, South Carolina……BA MONK!
“Keep Away” by Godsmack hits as BA Monk walks down from the stage to the ring. The crowd is rather indifferent towards him, but he doesn’t mind as his entire mindset is locked in on his upcoming bout.
Michelle Madison: And his opponent, from New York City, THUNDER!
"Money" by Pink Floyd begins to play. As the cash register sound ends and the music begins, Thunder walks towards the ring. He reaches the apron and climbs the turnbuckle, taunting the fans.
The bell sounds and the two men lock up in the center of the ring. The exchange armbars before Monk rolls through and hits a solid backchop across the chest of Thunder, driving him to the mat. Monk locks in a side-headlock and bring Thunder to his feet. Thunder reverses it with a back suplex as the crowd boos loudly. Both men quickly to their feet, Thunder charges Monk and is hit with a hiptoss. Another charge from Thunder and another hiptoss, followed by an elbow drop across the throat by Monk. Monk with an early cover, 2 count as Thunder kicks out.
Phil Brooks: Lots of action early in this one as these technical specialists begin to show the crowd what they’re made of.
Josh Harter: They certainly have, but of these two competitors the edge goes to the more experienced Thunder.
Monk bounds off the ropes and comes across with Harley Race knee to the dazed Thunder, knocking him down hard. Monk stomps a few times across the chest of Thunder, before Thunder reverses it into an ankle lock. Monk squeals in pain as he reaches for the ropes, but Thunder really pushes to apply the pressure hard.
Phil Brooks: What a reversal, it looks as though this match could be over.
Josh Harter: Just like I expected, the ring savvy veteran has taken control.
The fans are suddenly finding themselves behind Monk. They chant his name loudly as he reaches for the ropes. As he is about two inches from breaking the hold, Thunder quickly pulls him back to the center of ring.
Crowd: Boooooooooo! Booooooooo! Monk! Monk! Monk! Monk!
Monk suddenly is able to roll through the maneuver and lock in an ankle lock of his own, leading to the crowd with a loud roar of cheers.
Phil Brooks: Another huge reversal. Now Monk is back in control!
Josh Harter: Get to the ropes! The ropes!
Thunder finally makes it to the ropes as Monk breaks his hold. Thunder clutches his ankle in pain and slowly crawls to his feet. Monk slams his head into the turnbuckle, then follows with a scorpion deathdrop. Cover by Monk. Kickout at 2 from Thunder. Monk seems frustrated as he pulls Thunder to his feet and kicks him in the gut. Monk lifts Thunder over his head and stalls, setting up The End.
Phil Brooks: Monk looking for that stalling neckbreaker, this could in fact be The End.
Thunder is able to shift his weight while vertical and reverse the move, landing directly behind Monk, and locking in the Million Dollar Dream. He applies heavy pressure across the neck of Monk, wearing him down to the canvas, all the while laughing demonically. The referee goes over to the slump Monk. He lifts his arm as it falls to hit the canvas.
Crowd: 1!
He lifts it a second time, and it falls to the mat.
Crowd: 2!
He lifts it a third time, finally hitting the mat to end the match.
Crowd: 3!
The bell rings as the referee lifts Thunder’s arm. “Money” hits the speakers.
Michelle Madison: The winner by submission…THUNDER!
Phil Brooks: Well Thunder wins this technical match-up on the first ever Assault, and looks strong for the rest of the tournament.
Josh Harter: Brooks, that is going to be the first GWC World Champion right there. No one can stop Thunder.
